Infinite Abyss Productions Presents
A Women's World
Jan 21 - Jan 28
Infinite Abyss Productions is pleased to announce its efforts to support young, emerging playwrights and producers with its “Youth in the Abyss” program. During the run of one or two shows in its regular season, Infinite Abyss will co-produce a companion piece with a young local artist or artists with an original concept. During Infinite Abyss’s current production of Snow White Trash, “Youth in the Abyss” will debut with A Woman’s World - a conceptual Broadway revue following the journeys of four unique female characters as they re-evaluate their places in life. Songs from both classic and contemporary musicals will be featured while the audience is guided through their lives with each song that they sing.
A Woman’s World was created by local actors/singers Victoria Brown (21 years old) and Sara Grant (18 years old), who approached Jeffrey D. Holmes and Erynn Dalton (Infinite Abyss’s Artistic and Producing Director, respectively) with their idea for their new show. Says Dalton, “Tori and Sara had so much passion about this project that we wanted to do our best to support them. Even though Infinite Abyss is still a new, fledgling theatre company, we wanted to be able to give promising new artists an opportunity to showcase their ideas.” After being told that Infinite Abyss would co-produce their show, Grant and Brown were ecstatic "The most important things to us are getting our message across and showing audiences our vision which we have been toying with for 4 years- we’re so excited to have found a company willing to support that vision."
A Woman’s World is a four-woman show that will showcase songs from such popular musicals as Jekyll and Hyde, Aida, Rent, Les Miserables, and Next to Normal. The production will run in tandem with Infinite Abyss’s current play, Snow White Trash and will premiere Saturday, January 21st at 10 PM with 3 subsequent performances – Sunday January 22nd and Sunday January 29th at 2 PM and Saturday January 28th at 10 PM. A Woman’s World stars Sara Grant (also serving as a Co-Director of the show), Victoria Brown (also serving as a Co-Director of the show), Lexi Gaeta and Abbie Zamon. Performance length is 2 hours (including a 15 minute intermission) and tickets are $15.
Infinite Abyss Productions burst onto the South Florida theatre scene with 2010’s production of Stop Kiss by Diana Son, which was a smash hit with critics and audiences. The company has since produced hits such as Hedwig and the Angry Inch (May 2011) and The Pillowman (July 2011), for which Artistic Director Jeffrey D. Holmes won a Silver Palm Award for Outstanding Direction.
