The Hamlet Dog and Pony Show

Mad Cat Theatre Presents
The Hamlet Dog and Pony Show
By Jessica Farr and Paul Tei
July 27 - August 12

The Hamlet Dog and Pony Show is an abbreviated and psychedelically exaggerated sample of the Hamlet tragedy.  Dog and Pony shows can be defined on Wikipedia as: “a highly promoted, often over-staged performance, presentation, or event designed to sway or convince opinion for political, or less often, commercial ends.  Typlically, the term is used to connote disdain, jocular lack of appreciation, of distrust of the message being presented of the efforts undertaken to present it.”  We want your disdain for our sometimes musical variety parallel universe show.  Heiner Muller would too.  Come and take our ride to the other side.
A layered semi-musical deconstruction of Hamlet that touches upon Heiner Muller’s HamletMachine and his use of sampling, Prince’s Purple Rain, OFWGKTA, fear of death, the seeds of hate, depression and the implications of current day political and social figures in America, more specifically, on the campaign trial.
